Sounds good - thanks for your thoughts. Yes this will stay on the blog, although I've done the session now so any further feedback will only be for my own benefit! The session went well - I think I probably tried to fit too much in, but the idea was really to put questions in people's minds and help them to think in new ways rather than to teach them particular facts that they should remember, so hopefully they were able to do that to some extent.

Mark, I really enjoyed skimming through this just now. First reaction is that it's really good; I will read it again more slowly. So is it staying here on your blog? Hope so.

Yesterday morning Chris Wright referred very briefly to a passage in 1 Kings which I have heard him speak on at greater length. 1 Kings 8v41-43 and 59-61 esp 60. Solomon's missional prayer! Chris quipped: Solomon, an unlikely missionary who may have found it difficult to get through a mission agency application process with his 700 wives not to mention the 300 concubines!

You may wish to slip that in somewhere...

I think you can do it in 35 minutes... depends on how many visuals you have to distract you to say other stuff on the way. Is this intended as a fairly straight script?

Great stuff... which I'll probably nick sometime :) As Vaughan Roberts says in his Preface to God's Big Picture: "Very few good thoughts are new and I make no apology for standing on the backs of others throughout this book. I forget where I first heard many of these ideas. If you recognise your back, thank you!"

At least you got your acknowledgements in early and late.

Hi guys, good to hear from you! We're a bit envious of you guys going to UTB in July! We really wanted to come out for the conference to see people but it just didn't quite work out and I think would have been one too many things in a busy summer as we're preparing to move to the US.

When we're in the US I'm planning to do some work for UTB remotely, and also to do an MA in Bible and Mission part-time which I'm really looking forward to!

Hope you guys are both doing well. Have a great time in East Africa when you go!

Hi Mark & Laura!
Sounds like you are keeping VERY busy and that your lives are making a wonderful impact for the glory of GOD in Bible Translation! May GOD give you journeying mercies in Zambia... wonderful opportunity to interact with a very interesting group! Do you know yet just what you will be doing with UTB? Oh, & have you heard that Rod McGarvie is resigning as head of UTB to run for politics in Australia?! Big changes! We head for UTB Jul 7 - 28, 2010.
Blessings and Grace!

Mark,

Thanks for posting a comment on my blog. And wow! What a question you asked! Very insightful. After reading through a few of your posts here, I see that I will be checking back here often. You have some great insights and ask fantastic questions. Keep thinking! I am going to add you to my blog links too.

I have read this book by Wright, and also found it difficult to wade through. But I'm glad I read it, and would consider it a "must read" for anybody who wants to learn about the biblical/missional framework of thinking.
